Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development visits peanut conversion model in Dien Chau
(Baonghean.vn) - Within the framework of the working program in Nghe An, on the afternoon of May 19, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh and his delegation visited the peanut conversion model in Dien Chau.
The peanut growing model in Dien My commune, Dien Chau has an area of 30 hectares converted from ineffective rice growing area; implemented by the North Central Institute of Science and Technology in coordination with the commune.

Through evaluation, fresh peanuts yielded 3 quintals/sao, with revenue of 4 million VND. Being more suitable to soil conditions than rice, peanuts' revenue was twice as high. In the coming time, Dien Chau district will continue to convert 600 hectares of water-deficient land to grow crops.
After visiting the model, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Doanh and the delegation highly appreciated the economic efficiency of peanuts on the converted land area. He hoped that Dien Chau district would replicate new crop restructuring models, especially commercial crops...; focus on bringing mechanization into agriculture to support farmers in reducing labor, investment costs, and improving productivity.
