"I understand how dangerous the work of a photojournalist is. It is a risky profession. That is why the competition is named after your deceased colleague, who carried out his duty until the last minute of his life, working in very difficult conditions in Donbass," said Prime Minister Medvedev.

The competition was established in 2014 by the International News Agency "Rossiya segodnya" (Sputnik) under the auspices of the Russian Federation Commission for UNESCO in memory of photojournalist AndreyStenin was killed in a war zone in southeastern Ukraine while performing his professional duties.
