"I would like to particularly emphasize that Russian and Vietnamese oil, gas and energy companies are cooperating successfully. We hope that this relationship will continue to be strengthened. Therefore, we will create favorable conditions for the successful implementation of joint projects in Russia and Vietnam, with the participation of corporations such as Gazprom, Rosneft, Zarubezneft and PetroVietnam" - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev stated at a joint press conference with the Vietnamese Prime Minister this morning in Hanoi.

The Russian Prime Minister said that during the talks, he and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc discussed all areas of cooperation in politics, diplomacy, economics, trade, science and technology. "We have planned the necessary steps in the future to promote that relationship," Mr. Medvedev said.

The Russian leader said that after implementing the FTA between the Eurasian Economic Union and Vietnam, the turnover of goods between the two countries increased by nearly one-third and this trend has been maintained since the beginning of this year. The two sides will continue to diversify the bilateral trade structure, increase the proportion of high-tech products, increase cooperation in the energy, oil and gas, and transportation industries, and expand payments in the two countries' domestic currencies.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assessed that Vietnam and Russia have a special, traditional relationship that is increasingly dynamic and effective. The two leaders reaffirmed the consistent policy of developing a comprehensive strategic partnership.

To consolidate the substantive Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the two Prime Ministers agreed to enhance political trust, continue to effectively implement the Eurasian Economic Union FTA with Vietnam and aim for 10 billion USD in 2020.

Vietnam and Russia will also have measures to support the implementation of key cooperation projects, especially in the fields of oil and gas, energy, industry, infrastructure, transportation, and agriculture, creating favorable conditions for the export of agricultural and aquatic products between the two countries.

The two Prime Ministers also discussed enhancing efforts to maintain peace and stability, ensure security, safety, freedom of navigation and aviation, and peacefully resolve disputes in the East Sea in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), in the spirit of the DOC and towards the COC.

"Vietnam highly appreciates and hopes that Russia will continue to actively contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, and will continue to promote cooperation at multilateral forums, and strengthen cooperation between Russia and ASEAN," said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

During the visit of the Russian Prime Minister, representatives of both sides received the certificate of approval of the Pre-Feasibility Report of the project of the Center for Nuclear Science and Technology Research in Vietnam.

Russian Prime Minister Medvedev is on an official visit to Vietnam from November 18 to 19. He has visited Vietnam three times, the first time in 2010 as Russian President, the second time in 2012 and the most recent time in 2015.
