At the invitation of Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of the Republic of Türkiye Binali Yildirim paid an official visit to Vietnam from August 22-24, 2017.

On the morning of August 23, at the Presidential Palace, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired a solemn welcoming ceremony for the Turkish Prime Minister.
Welcoming and shaking hands with Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc warmly welcomed the Prime Minister and the high-ranking delegation of the Turkish Government on their official visit to Vietnam. To the welcoming music, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc invited Prime Minister Binali Yildirim to step up to the podium. Then, the military band played the national anthems of both countries.

Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, the two Prime Ministers led high-ranking delegations of the two governments to hold talks. Immediately after the talks, the two Prime Ministers attended the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between the two countries on the management of free zones, export processing zones, economic zones, special economic zones, customs and quality measurement. The two Prime Ministers then informed the press about the results of the talks.

Since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1978, the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Türkiye has been growing steadily. Prime Minister Binali Yildirim’s visit to Vietnam this time aims to promote bilateral relations, especially in the fields of trade, investment, science and technology, transportation, etc.

Currently, Türkiye is Vietnam's leading trade partner in the Middle East. In 2016, trade turnover between the two countries reached 1.5 billion USD, of which Vietnam exported 1.36 billion USD to Türkiye. Türkiye is the gateway for Vietnam's export products such as rice, rubber, tea, textiles, footwear, electronics, etc. to the Middle East. Last year, Türkiye's national airline Turkish Airlines opened a direct flight to Vietnam./.
