Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his pleasure at his official visit to China and his participation in the China-ASEAN Expo and Trade and Investment Summit. The Prime Minister emphasized that this is the first time Vietnam has attended the China-ASEAN Expo as an “Honored Country”, considering it a good opportunity to enhance economic, trade and investment exchanges and cooperation between Vietnam and China and ASEAN countries; thanked the Chinese Government for actively supporting Vietnamese enterprises and localities to attend this Expo; expressed his belief that with the careful preparation of the host country China and the active participation of ASEAN countries, the 13th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) will be a great success.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc reviewed some key features of the Vietnam-China relationship in recent times; highly appreciated the progress in a number of cooperation areas between the two countries, including the active promotion of Deputy Prime Minister Zhang Gaoli.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that Vietnam persistently pursues a foreign policy of peace, independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification; attaches importance to consolidating and enhancing friendly and cooperative relations with China, considering this one of the top priorities in Vietnam's foreign policy.

The Prime Minister said that during his official visit to China this time, he will work with senior leaders of the Chinese Party and Government to discuss in depth measures to promote stable and healthy development of bilateral relations in the coming time, including maintaining meetings and contacts between senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries; encouraging all levels and sectors of the two sides to increase exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation; actively coordinate to resolve existing problems and obstacles, bringing economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries into a new stage of development, quality, efficiency and sustainability; jointly control disagreements at sea, persistently resolve disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea and the region.

On behalf of the Party and Government of China, Deputy Prime Minister Zhang Gaoli warmly welcomed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to the official visit to the People's Republic of China and to attend the 13th China-ASEAN Expo and Trade and Investment Summit in Nanning, Guangxi Province; believed that this visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will be a great success, making a positive contribution to the development of the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries; emphasized that Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc leading a high-ranking delegation and many Vietnamese enterprises to attend this Expo demonstrates the importance that the Vietnamese Government attaches to the China-Vietnam relationship as well as China-ASEAN cooperation, making an important contribution to the success of this Expo.
