Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh offers flowers to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
On the morning of July 5, local time (evening of the same day, Vietnam time), right after arriving in Rio de Janeiro to attend the 2025 BRICS Summit and bilateral activities in Brazil, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, offered flowers at the Memorial Sea honoring President Ho Chi Minh in the Santa Teresa area, Rio de Janeiro city.

On the Brazilian side, there were Mr. Inacio Arruda, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, President of the Brazil - Vietnam Friendship Association; Mr. Bruno Costa, Deputy Minister in charge of International Relations of the Rio de Janeiro state government; and representatives of the city of Rio de Janeiro.

Representatives of the city government and people of Rio de Janeiro warmly waved flags to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to the background music of the song "As if Uncle Ho were here on the day of great victory".
In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and delegates offered flowers and spent a minute in memory of him.

Mr. Inacio Arruda and Brazilian delegates presented Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh with a number of very meaningful gifts showing special affection for Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, especially souvenirs with portraits of President Ho Chi Minh that Brazilian Communist Party members made in the 1950s to show solidarity and support for the people and country of Vietnam, and the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sincerely thanked the Brazilian side for rediscovering the places where President Ho Chi Minh was attached during his years in Brazil and dedicating space to commemorate him. This is a noble gesture towards the Party, State, and people of Vietnam and the friendship between the two countries. The Prime Minister hopes that the Brazilian side will continue to search for and collect relics, information, and places associated with President Ho Chi Minh and continue to embellish the Memorial Sea area into a symbol of bilateral relations and traditional education for the younger generations of the two countries.

In a warm, friendly atmosphere with tight hugs, the delegates joined hands and sang the song "As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day" with loud shouts of "Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh", "Vietnam - Brazil", together commemorating President Ho Chi Minh - an outstanding revolutionary, a great national hero, a noble symbol of the indomitable will from thousands of years of heroic history of the Vietnamese people, also an outstanding soldier of the world workers' movement, a close friend of peace-loving and progressive peoples around the world; at the same time, a great cultural figure, deeply understanding the values of truth, goodness, beauty and the noble nature of human beings.

With the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh, the United Nations Organization UNESCO honored him as a National Liberation Hero, an outstanding cultural celebrity of Vietnam, and at the same time honored him as one of the "outstanding figures who left their mark on the development process of humanity".
Going back in history, in 1912, on his journey to find a way to save the country, President Ho Chi Minh, then a young man named Nguyen Tat Thanh, set foot in Rio de Janeiro. Although his stay here was not long, the valuable experiences in this city contributed significantly to the formation of his noble revolutionary ideology - towards independence, freedom and happiness for the Vietnamese people.

During his stay, the young man Nguyen Tat Thanh worked at a restaurant in the Lapa area - where the upper class gathered, and lived in a boarding house in Santa Teresa - an area of poor workers. He not only observed but also participated in social activities, connected with local workers and absorbed progressive ideas.

President Ho Chi Minh's journey to Rio de Janeiro is a vivid demonstration of the special bond between Vietnam and Brazil. Despite the geographical distance, the two peoples still share a common aspiration for freedom, equality and independence.
In November 2024, on the occasion of attending the G20 Summit in Brazil, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife attended the inauguration ceremony of the Commemorative Sign honoring President Ho Chi Minh in Rio de Janeiro city.
