Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made 5 proposals at the 2021 Global Trade in Services Summit
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that in the context of countries being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change and resource depletion, promoting international cooperation in the field of digital technology will be an important key.
At the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, last night, September 2, 2021,Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinhattended and delivered a keynote speech in video format at the 2021 Global Services Trade Summit co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Beijing Municipal Government.
Appreciating the leaders of the countries attending the Conference with the theme "Digitalization opens the future, services promote development" this year, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that in the context that countries are suffering from the combined impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change and resource depletion, promoting international cooperation in the field of digital technology will be an important key to supporting countries in transforming their growth models, better exploiting resources, promoting the flow of capital, goods and services, creating new momentum for economic growth, ensuring sustainable, inclusive and comprehensive development.
The Prime Minister emphasized that as a dynamically developing economy in ASEAN, with a network of 17 free trade agreements with over 60 partners, a domestic market of nearly 100 million people, of which a high proportion is young, and quickly adapts to digital technology, Vietnam's potential for digital economic development is enormous; Vietnam is ready to work with China and other countries to promote trade and service relations in general and the digital economy in particular to continuously develop in an open, inclusive, sustainable, respectful, equal, humane, and mutually beneficial direction; contributing to the development of each country and bringing practical benefits to the region and the world.
In that spirit, the Prime Minister made specific proposals:
Firstly, countries need to take advantage of digital transformation to accelerate the achievement of the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, which focus on narrowing the development gap between countries as well as social inequality, creating conditions for people in less developed regions to have equal access to services provided on digital platforms.
Second, further strengthen the role of international agreements in cooperation on digital technology and the digital economy so that the digital economy can develop strongly and in the right direction on the basis of harmonizing the common interests of the whole society; at the same time, ensure network safety and security, ensure privacy as well as fight against monopoly and eliminate inequality in tax obligations. Vietnam is ready to work with other countries to build a suitable legal framework to help the digital economy develop strongly, contributing to and harmonizing the common interests of the whole society.
Third, focus on cooperation in education and training of human resources in the field of science and technology; contribute to supporting workers to gradually adapt to digital technology.
Fourth, promote the role of digital technology in trade facilitation, especially the movement of goods by multimodal transport, creating favorable conditions for people to travel, ensuring that the supply chain is not interrupted in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Fifth, promote cross-border e-commerce on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, thereby helping to promote exports, especially seasonal agricultural and aquatic products.
The 2021 Global Trade in Services Summit was attended by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, leaders of countries and international organizations. The conference is the main activity within the framework of the 2021 China International Trade in Services Fair. This is the world's largest international fair in the field of trade in services with the participation of more than 700 enterprises from China and abroad. In addition to the main activities, this year's Fair also organizes 15 related conferences and forums such as the Global Ecological Sustainable Development Forum, the Carbon Neutral Forum, etc. This is also the first time that Vietnamese enterprises participate in both direct and online forms./.
