Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh: Do not miss the economic recovery beat, do not let our country fall behind
The Prime Minister requested that trade unions at all levels continue to launch and implement emulation movements to overcome difficulties, join the whole country in preventing the epidemic, recovering the economy, and not letting our country fall behind.
Afternoon of October 16, at the Government headquarters,Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinhchaired the Conference on working relations between the Government and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) in 2021, and directions and tasks for 2022.
Also attending the conference were Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh; President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang; representatives of relevant ministries and branches; Vice Presidents and members of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Reporting at the Conference, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang said that in the context of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the coordination between the Government and the General Confederation of Labor focused on directing the implementation of many important contents such as: joining hands to prevent and fight the COVID-19 pandemic; Caring for and supporting workers affected by the pandemic and social security; Coordinating to participate in the development of policies and laws related to workers, laborers and trade union organizations, adjusting the regional minimum wage in 2021 and increasing the regional minimum wage starting from July 1 every year.
To date, nearly 380,000 employers, nearly 18.68 million workers and other subjects have received support with a total budget of over VND 15,800 billion; support from the Unemployment Insurance Fund for employees and employers with a budget of nearly VND 7,500 billion.
At the Conference, delegates focused on discussing and evaluating the results of implementing the coordination regulations between the Government and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; especially the aspects that have been done and have not been done; the orientations, tasks and solutions in the coming time.
In particular, many delegates mentioned the need to lead, mobilize, and support workers to actively participate in implementing temporary guidelines for safe and flexible adaptation, effectively controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, both effectively preventing and fighting the pandemic and restoring production, business, and socio-economic development, for the benefit of each worker, citizen, and for the nation and people; housing issues for workers.
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that in the context of many difficulties and challenges, but inheriting the achievements that have been made, promoting the tradition of national solidarity, with the determination to build a Government of "innovation, integrity, discipline, action, efficiency, serving the people", the Prime Minister asked the VGCL to stand side by side with the Government, join hands and unite to carry out tasks, strive to successfully implement the goals set by the 13th National Party Congress.
The immediate task is to safely and flexibly adapt and effectively control the COVID-19 pandemic, both successfully preventing and fighting the pandemic and quickly restoring and promoting socio-economic development, ensuring social security. The urgent, key and top priority task at the present stage is to overcome the disruption of the labor supply chain, to quickly bring workers back to safe production enterprises, with income and stable lives; and to ensure security, order and social safety.
The Prime Minister also requested that trade unions at all levels continue to launch and implement emulation movements to overcome difficulties, "Good workers, Creative workers", "High productivity, good quality", "Each person works as two" to join the whole country in preventing the epidemic, recovering the economy, avoiding supply chain disruptions, resolutely not missing a beat, not letting our country fall behind. Each union member and worker must be a soldier in the battle against the epidemic and recovering the economy.
Along with that, continuing to do well in training and improving all aspects of the workers' qualifications, the Trade Union must be a channel to participate in training and fostering human resources for the country; making an important contribution to implementing strategic breakthroughs in human resources.
Building a strong and comprehensive Vietnam Trade Union, capable of adapting to and solving problems, performing well its functions and tasks in the new situation; being a solid political and social foundation of the Party and State; playing a good role as a bridge, maintaining close ties between the Party and State with the working class and laborers; worthy of being the largest representative organization, the center for gathering and uniting the working class and laborers nationwide; contributing to building a modern and strong Vietnamese working class, a pioneering force in carrying out the task of rapid and sustainable development of the country.
Strengthen propaganda and mobilize union members and workers to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws; share the common difficulties of the country, unite and reach consensus to help the country overcome all difficulties.
The Prime Minister also requested ministries, branches, local Party committees and authorities to actively coordinate with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and trade unions at all levels to promptly resolve the needs, aspirations and legitimate rights of workers.
Regarding the proposals and recommendations of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for proposals under the authority of ministries and branches, the ministries and branches are assigned to promptly handle them based on their functions, tasks and current regulations and have a written response before November 15, 2021; report to the Prime Minister on issues beyond their authority.
