Prime Minister receives US Trade Representative and Secretary of Agriculture
On the morning of May 31 (Vietnam time), in Washington DC, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and US Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue.

At the meeting with the two officials, the Prime Minister emphasized that economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries continues to be the focus and driving force of bilateral relations, contributing to growth and job creation in both countries.
The Prime Minister also affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to economic, trade and investment cooperation with the United States and is ready to discuss measures to enhance economic relations between the two countries on the basis of mutual benefit. Vietnam will continue to improve the business and investment environment, creating more favorable conditions for US enterprises to do business with Vietnam.
US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and US Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue agreed that the two countries' economies complement each other. The US is very interested in the Vietnamese market and welcomes Vietnam's increased imports from the US. They hope that the two sides will cooperate to promote trade relations, especially in the fields of agricultural and aquatic products.

On the same day, also in Washington DC, speaking at the Dialogue with leading US corporations and businesses and the Welcome Party co-hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce (USCC) and the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomed US businesses choosing to come to Vietnam.
The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam is determined to continue to innovate, integrate internationally and implement measures according to fair trade standards, and that Vietnam always considers the success of US businesses as Vietnam's success.
The Prime Minister also listened, took notes and directly discussed with US businesses on many issues of concern to businesses.
US businesses affirmed their support for promoting relations between the two countries and highly appreciated the policies of the Vietnamese Government that have created a fair and healthy playing field for foreign businesses, including US businesses, to do business and invest in Vietnam; welcomed the increased meetings and contacts between the leaders of the two countries, affirmed their strong support and will actively assist in ensuring the success of APEC 2017 in Vietnam.
