The Prime Minister directed the Hanoi People's Committee to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to promptly clarify the cause of the fire at the candy factory that caused serious consequences.

On the evening of July 29, the Government Office issued a document conveying Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc's direction.The Hanoi People's Committee will coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to promptly investigate the cause of the fire in Hoai Duc and report the results to the Prime Minister.

The Hanoi People's Committee was also requested to urgently visit, overcome the consequences, and take timely measures to support the victims and their relatives.

Witness recounts fire that killed 8 people

At noon on July 29, a fire lasted for 3 hours at the factory.confectionery productionalong Highway 32, Duc Thuong Commune (Hoai Duc) killed 8 people and injured 2.

Among the eight people killed were seven young men aged between 15 and 27 and a 55-year-old woman. Most of them were related to the owner of the production facility.Two injured young men were treated at the National Burn Institute, one had to be put on a ventilator, the other was able to talk.

Authorities determined that the fire was caused by welding sparks that hit the foam ceiling. The victims did not have time to escape because the attic collapsed, blocking the front door - the only way out./.
