Hundreds of officers, soldiers and people participated in fighting forest fires in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - At 4:30 p.m. on April 30, hundreds of officers and soldiers of Military Region 4, in coordination with functional forces and people of Thanh Chuong and Nam Dan districts, were urgently using all measures to put out the fire, when dozens of hectares of mixed forest were engulfed in flames.
The fire was discovered at around 6:30 a.m. on April 30 in Khe Ot area, at the foot of Dun mountain, Tan Phong hamlet, Thanh Khai commune, Thanh Chuong district. Immediately after the fire broke out, Thanh Chuong district People's Committee mobilized more than 150 people (including Military, Police, Forest Rangers, commune officials, Mobile Team No. 1) to participate in fire fighting.

Because the pine and acacia forests have a lot of vegetation, dry pine needles, hot weather, strong southwest winds, the fire quickly spread and was difficult to control; it has now burned more than 10 hectares of forest in Thanh Khai commune (Thanh Chuong), then spread to the mixed forest area in Nam Dan town and Nam Thai commune (Nam Dan district, Nghe An).

On the afternoon of April 30, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hung - Deputy Chief of Staff of the 414th Engineering Brigade (Military Region 4) said that 60 officers and soldiers of the unit are working with the Party Committee, authorities, police, people and functional forces to urgently control the forest fire that occurred in Nam Dan town and Nam Thai commune (Nam Dan district).

As of 4:30 p.m. the same day, the fire was still raging. Forces were focusing on clearing firebreaks and controlling the fire from spreading.
