According to Mr. Dang Van Minh, Deputy Head of the Provincial Veterinary Department: Vaccination against diseases in livestock and poultry has been implemented since September 15th. To date, the entire province has vaccinated 90,134 buffaloes and cattle against hemorrhagic septicemia, 32,350 against foot-and-mouth disease, 48,776 pigs against hemorrhagic septicemia, 50,176 against swine cholera, 351 against rabies, and over 250,000 poultry against avian influenza and H5N1.
Currently, some districts are waiting for foot-and-mouth disease vaccine supplies from the central government, resulting in a lack of vaccines for vaccination and delays in the autumn vaccination campaign. The planned vaccination period was from September 15th to October 15th, but due to the vaccine shortage, the autumn vaccination campaign is expected to be completed by the end of November 2016.

With the onset of the rainy season, the weather is humid and unpredictable, posing a high risk of disease outbreaks among livestock. Therefore, in recent days, Party committees and authorities at all levels, along with livestock farmers in Nghi Loc, have been intensifying efforts to protect livestock, aiming to minimize losses caused by the harsh weather.
Nghi Loc district currently has over 24,000 buffaloes and cows, 17,000 pigs, and over 700,000 poultry. There are 270 farms and livestock breeding facilities. Mr. Tran Quoc Cuong, Head of the Nghi Loc Livestock and Veterinary Station, added: "To date, we have administered 21,000 doses of hemorrhagic septicemia vaccine to buffaloes and cows; 12,000 doses of foot-and-mouth disease vaccine to the Australian cattle farm buffer zone; 11,000 doses of swine cholera vaccine; and 37,000 doses of avian influenza vaccine. We have also sprayed 607 liters of chemicals in key areas, markets, and livestock and poultry trading centers."

Simultaneously, the veterinary sector assigns staff to closely monitor and guide livestock farmers in implementing measures to protect their herds, such as: sheltering livestock enclosures; supplementing vitamins and minerals to increase the resistance of livestock and poultry; organizing supplementary vaccinations to proactively create immunity for livestock; and monitoring diseases down to the household and farm level to detect and promptly handle any outbreaks.
