Revealing President Putin's income over the past 6 years

According toTass, Russian election law clearly stipulates that presidential candidates are obliged to provide information about their assets and income for 6 years. Therefore, Mr. Putin, as a candidate for the election scheduled to take place on March 18, revealed details about the amount of money he earned from 2011 to 2016.

Accordingly, Mr. Putin earned more than 38.5 million Russian rubles (equivalent to 675,000 USD) in the past 6 years. This figure includes the presidential salary, military pension and income from bank deposits.

According toTass, Mr. Putin currently owns a 77 m2 apartment and an 18 m2 garage in St. Petersburg and a 153.7 m2 house and 18 m2 parking space in Moscow. According to the information he revealed, the Russian President currently owns two GAZ M21 cars manufactured in 1960 and 1965, a 2009 Niva SUV and a Skif car manufactured in 1987.

Mr. Putin owns 13 bank accounts with a total of nearly 14 million rubles (about $243,000). He also holds 230 shares in the St. Petersburg Bank. During his presidential campaign in 2011, Mr. Putin said he owned 10 bank accounts with a total of 5.7 million rubles ($100,000) and 230 shares in the St. Petersburg Bank.

The CEC on February 6 confirmed Mr. Putin as a candidate in the presidential election scheduled for March 18 by issuing a certificate of eligibility as an independent presidential candidate. Mr. Putin was given the document after submitting more than 300,000 signatures of support, the minimum required to be eligible to run for re-election.

According to a January survey by VTSIOM, 70% of respondents said they supported President Putin in the election on March 18.
