Search for missing fishing couple on Lam River

On the afternoon of July 17, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Son Commune (Anh Son District) said: After many hours of search and rescue efforts, as of 1:30 p.m. today, Mr. Nguyen Van Dong (born in 1952) and his wife Tran Thi Loi (born in 1958), residing in Hamlet 3, Vinh Son Commune - who went missing on the Lam River, still have not been found.
At around 6am on July 17, Mr. Dong and his wife took their motorboat to Lam River (through Long Son Commune, Anh Son District) to fish. However, at around 8am on the same day, people discovered that Mr. Dong and his wife's boat had drifted ashore, but they were nowhere to be seen.
At that time, Mr. Dong and his wife's motorboat was still running, and Mr. Dong's cell phone was still on the boat. People found the phone number of Mr. Dong's daughter who got married in Long Son commune to report the news.
The People's Committee of Anh Son district and Long Son and Vinh Son communes mobilized forces, boats, and canoes to search for Mr. Dong and his wife along Lam river.
The search for Mr. Dong and Ms. Loi is currently underway.
It is known that Mr. Dong is a veteran who protected the ancient citadel of Quang Tri, and his family is in difficult circumstances. Mr. Dong and Mrs. Loi have 4 married children.
