On the morning of January 24, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife left for India to attend the ASEAN-India Summit and the celebration of the 69th Republic Day of India from January 24-26, 2018.
With the theme "Shared values, common destiny", the conference is an opportunity to further promote Vietnam - India relations, while clearly demonstrating Vietnam's coordinating role in ASEAN - India relations.

2.Russian and US Defense Ministers visit Vietnam in the first days of the year

At the invitation of Minister of Defense, General Ngo Xuan Lich, the Ministers of Defense of Russia and the United States paid an official visit to Vietnam last week.
The visits of the Defense Ministers of Russia and the United States aim to promote cooperation with Vietnam. Accordingly, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited Vietnam for 2 days, from January 22-23; US Defense Secretary James Mattis visited Vietnam starting from January 24.
3. Mr. Dinh La Thang was sentenced to 13 years in prison; Trinh Xuan Thanh was sentenced to life in prison.

On the morning of January 22, after 14 days of trial and deliberation, the Hanoi People's Court sentenced Mr. Dinh La Thang, Trinh Xuan Thanh and 20 accomplices in the case of Intentional Violation and Embezzlement of Property occurring at the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Construction Corporation (PVC).
After more than two hours of reading the verdict, the panel sentenced defendant Dinh La Thang to 13 years in prison. Defendant Trinh Xuan Thanh was sentenced to 14 years in prison for Intentional Violation and life in prison for Embezzlement. The total sentence is life in prison.
4.Chairman and Vice Chairman of Quang Nam were warned

Here, the inspection agency reviewed and disciplined Mr. Le Phuoc Thanh, former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, former Secretary of the Party Committee, former Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province; Mr. Dinh Van Thu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province and Mr. Huynh Khanh Toan, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province for violations and shortcomings that were concluded at the 20th Session of the Central Inspection Commission.
