Nghe An province develops 2,400 offshore fishing boats
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An is aiming to develop offshore fishing by 2020, accounting for over 50% of offshore fishing vessels with seafood output reaching 120 thousand tons.

In recent years, Nghe An fishermen have boldly invested in building large boats and large engines to go offshore, increasing income from offshore fishing.
Typically, Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district has a total of 170 boats, of which 110 have a capacity of over 90 CV, exploiting by means of purse seine, seine net... most of the boats are fully equipped with information and fish detection equipment. The annual catch reaches nearly 30 thousand tons, the value reaches over 300 billion VND, the average income of seafood exploitation workers is 9 - 10 million VND/month.
According to the Department of Fisheries, Nghe An currently has more than 3,900 fishing vessels of all kinds, with a total capacity of over 4,900 horsepower. Of which, there are nearly 1,400 boats with a capacity of over 90 horsepower. The output of seafood caught reaches over 110 thousand tons/year.

In fact, coastal trawling still accounts for nearly 20%, trawling about 40%, other occupations 29%, light purse seine 3.8%, and longline 4.5%. Since 2006, occupations with high economic efficiency have tended to increase rapidly, trawling and gillnetting are gradually decreasing.
Nghe An aims to have 3,964 boats by 2020, including 2,400 offshore fishing boats.
Offshore fishing structure: Trawling has 742 boats, accounting for 19.17%; trawling has 1,600 boats, accounting for 41.34%; light purse seine has 220 boats, accounting for 5.68%; fishing has 200 boats, accounting for 5.1% and other occupations have 1,108 boats, accounting for 28.6% of fishing boats.
By 2020, Nghe An needs about 20,000 seafood exploitation workers.
