According to the indictment, Thuan got married and lived in China since 1998. In March 2015, Thuan returned home to visit. At that time, many people living in Dien Chau, knowing that Thuan was fluent in Chinese, came to ask Thuan to take them to China to find work. Initially, Thuan did not agree because people did not have passports or skills, so it was difficult to find work there. Many people begged and asked for help, so Thuan agreed to help. Thuan asked a person named Lan (a Vietnamese woman married and living in China), Lan agreed to take these people to China through illegal routes at a cost of 4.5 million VND/person.

After agreeing to accept the risk of being arrested by Chinese police and finding work themselves, 16 people in Dien Bich and Dien Ngoc communes agreed to give Thuan 55 million VND, and 5 others asked for debt, and when they found work in China, they would pay Thuan.

At noon on March 27, 2015, Thuan gathered the 21 people mentioned above on a bus to Hanoi and then to Ta Lung border gate (Cao Bang). On the morning of March 28, 2015, all of these people crossed the river to China by bamboo raft and then got on 3 cars and drove deep into the interior of China. When arriving in Guangdong, 14 people were arrested by local police and deported back to their country, the rest escaped, were taken by Thuan to his house to rest and then went to find work on their own. On June 12, 2015, Nguyen Thi Thuan was arrested.

At the trial, Nguyen Thi Thuan confessed to the crime as stated in the indictment.

Considering that the defendant confessed honestly, repented, had limited legal awareness, and during her detention helped the police agency successfully discover a case of organizing others to flee abroad, she should be given mitigating circumstances according to the law. The panel sentenced Nguyen Thi Thuan to 9 months in prison as proposed by the representative of the Provincial People's Procuracy./.
