According to initial information, a monk at a pagoda in District 10 did not see Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan (commonly known as Hieu) come to the pagoda as usual, so he became suspicious and called Ms. Nhan, but after many calls, no one answered.
The last call was answered by someone but no one answered. Suspecting something was wrong, the monk went to Mrs. Nhan's house. Mrs. Nhan's door was ajar. The monk pushed the door open and entered, but was shocked to find Mrs. Nhan lying motionless in a pool of blood, so he shouted for help. Tan Phu District Police arrived at the scene and determined that the victim had died, and that the scene showed signs of tampering.
Many people living here said that Ms. Nhan lives alone, is well-off and often does charity work. Every day, Ms. Nhan often goes to a pagoda in District 10 to practice. Although she lives alone, Ms. Nhan's house is often visited by people, mostly friends who practice with Ms. Nhan.
Tan Phu District Police examined the scene and collected many traces. In addition to some missing items on Ms. Nhan's person, the 200 million VND in cash in Ms. Nhan's cabinet was also gone.
After taking statements from witnesses and investigating their relationships, Tan Phu District Police initially identified the suspect because this person was often present at Ms. Nhan's house. Another detail confirming that this woman named Quan was related to the above murder case was that after the case was discovered, Ms. Loan left the area.
The house where the crime took place |
After 20 days of tracking, Tan Phu District Police received information that Loan was hiding in Vinh Long, so a task force quickly went to Vinh Long. When the task force raided and controlled Loan, Loan drank a bottle of poison that she had bought.
During the process of controlling, poison splashed into the eyes, face, and mouth of a scout, so this scout is being treated at the hospital. Tan Phu District Police took Loan to the hospital for treatment and then transferred Loan to Ho Chi Minh City.
Initially, Loan stated that she had a close relationship with Ms. Nhan. She had visited Ms. Nhan's house many times and saw that Ms. Nhan had a lot of assets, so she became greedy. On the morning of August 2, Loan went to Ms. Nhan's house and saw that Ms. Nhan was preparing to go to the temple to practice, so she asked Ms. Nhan to come inside to talk. Taking advantage of Ms. Nhan's carelessness, Loan used a weapon to stab Ms. Nhan multiple times. Seeing Ms. Nhan motionless, Loan took Ms. Nhan's motorbike, iPhone 7plus, and 200 million VND and fled.
Loan is currently being treated at Cho Ray Hospital. Tan Phu District Police have completed the file to transfer Loan to the Criminal Police Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police to handle the act of "murder, robbery" according to their authority.
