Considered the culprit in the Euro 2016 semi-final when he touched the ball in the penalty area during an aerial challenge that led to a yellow card and a penalty, the 31-year-old midfielder admitted that it was a silly mistake on his part. Although coach Joachim Loew and his teammates did not blame him, Schweinsteiger still could not hide his disappointment at being the reason for Germany's defeat.

The left knee injury not only caused Bastian to lose his form in the national team but it also seriously affected the midfielder's career in the MU shirt before the news that the new coach of the "Red Devils", Jose Mourinho, intended to bring another world-class midfielder to Old Trafford.
Bastian Schweinsteiger is currently trying to recover from his injury, regain his form to prove himself and meet Jose Mourinho's demands. Last year, the midfielder came to Old Trafford on a three-year contract with a salary of 7.2 million pounds per year in the role of leading the MU midfield.
