On August 11, the 15th Government held its first meeting to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 15th National Assembly on socio-economic development for the 5 years 2021 - 2025.

Comrade Pham Minh Chinh - Politburo member, Prime Minister; Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh chaired at the Government bridge. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam attended the meeting at the Ho Chi Minh City bridge. Attending the meeting at the Government bridge were comrades who led the Party, State, ministries, branches, and central agencies.

The meeting was held online nationwide to localities. BUILDING A GOVERNMENT THAT IS INNOVATIVE, INTEGRATED, ACTIVE, AND EFFICIENT

The conference was held in 1 day with many important contents, focusing on discussing and agreeing on the key and most important issues in all fields of the country in the next 5 years.

In the morning, delegates discussed key tasks to implement the Government's Action Program to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the draft Action Program of the Government for the 2021-2026 term to implement the National Assembly's Resolution on the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021-2025.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: The 15th Government takes on the task in the context of the world and the country having intertwined opportunities, advantages, difficulties and challenges, especially the Covid-19 epidemic with the Delta variant that is evolving very complicatedly and unpredictably in the world and in Vietnam, threatening the health and lives of the people and seriously affecting all aspects of the country's socio-economy.

“The 15th Government held its first plenary session, which was also a historic session, with the determination to build a Government that is innovative, honest, active, effective, and serves the people. The session was held after the 13th National Party Congress and the very successful first session of the 15th National Assembly to implement the Party's Resolution and the National Assembly's Resolution on socio-economic development in the 5-year period of 2021-2025,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

GOVERNMENT CONTINUES TO STRONGLY INNOVATE ORGANIZATION AND METHODS

After listening to the tasks and key solutions of the Government for the 15th tenure to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the National Assembly on the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2025; discussions of a number of provinces and cities across the country, the Conference listened to very important directives, suggesting, orienting and assigning tasks to the Government for this tenure, demonstrating the special attention, deep sharing, great expectations and trust of the Party, State and People for the Government of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The General Secretary assessed that the conference took place at a time when there were many major events in the country; demonstrating the very smooth and harmonious coordination of the entire political system of our country; the high solidarity and unanimity of the entire Party, people and army; a very methodical, reasonable and scientific method and way of doing things in the spirit of "unanimity from top to bottom, support from the front and the back, one call, all respond and smooth communication".

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that the entire political system of our country must achieve the common goal of building a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic, prosperous and socialist Vietnam. The people must have a prosperous, free and happy life.

In order to successfully complete the goals and tasks set forth by the 13th National Congress, the 3rd Central Conference (13th tenure) of the Party and the 15th National Assembly's First Session, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong suggested that the Government for the 2021-2026 term should continue to promote more strongly and better the glorious traditions, great results, achievements and valuable lessons that the Government has achieved over the past periods; strive even harder on the path of innovation; improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of operations in the new development period.

In particular, the Government needs to focus on prioritizing the implementation of 6 key tasks and 3 strategic breakthroughs that the Government has set out; thoroughly handling bottlenecks, obstacles and problems to develop the country faster and more sustainably on the basis of strengthening macroeconomic stability, developing science and technology and innovation, maximizing the country's potential and advantages; restructuring the economy in conjunction with renewing the growth model, improving productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the economy.

The General Secretary also requested the Government to synchronously implement solutions to effectively overcome the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, quickly recover and develop the economy; strongly promote cultural values, the strength of the Vietnamese people and the creativity of each individual; gradually build an orderly, disciplined, safe, healthy, democratic, fair and civilized society; ensure a peaceful and happy life for the people.

Along with that, the 15th Government needs to focus on protecting the environment and responding to climate change; strengthening national defense and security, resolutely and persistently fighting to firmly protect national independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and maintain a peaceful and stable environment for national development; proactively and actively integrating into the international community, improving the effectiveness of foreign affairs and Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena.

In this process, it is necessary to always study, grasp and thoroughly understand the fundamental theoretical and practical issues of very important principles that have been expressed in the Party's platform and basic guidelines on our country's revolution.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong believes that the Government will continue to strongly innovate its organization and methods of operation, achieve many important results, and make greater contributions to the renovation process, promote industrialization and modernization, and gradually transition the country to socialism; be worthy of its position and role as the highest State administrative agency exercising executive power of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; be the agency directly organizing, managing, and effectively implementing all policies and guidelines of the Communist Party of Vietnam; turn the Party's policies and guidelines and the State's laws into vivid reality, bringing prosperity, freedom, and happiness to the people, bringing glory to the nation and its race.

In the afternoon of the same day, the meeting will discuss the socio-economic development situation in July and the first 7 months of 2021, Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control work, and key tasks and solutions for the last months of the year.
