General Secretary and President of the Lao PDR pays official visit to Vietnam

General Secretary and President of the Lao PDR Bounnhang Volachith chose Vietnam as the first country to visit, demonstrating his respect for the Vietnam - Laos relationship.

At the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, President of the Lao PDR Bounnhang Volachith began an official visit to Vietnam from April 25 to 27, 2016.

The official friendship visit to Vietnam by the head of the Party and State of the Lao People's Democratic Republic took place in the context of Vietnam and Laos having just successfully organized the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 10th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.

Close political cooperation is the basis for the development of cooperation in other sectors: security, defense, diplomacy, investment, economy, trade, etc. Currently, Vietnam is on the top list of countries investing in Laos.

Ms. Sounthone Xaynhachac said: “Cooperation in human resource development is also focused, Laos always appreciates Vietnam's assistance in human resource training. This is a huge source of capital that the Party, State and Government of Vietnam give to the Party, State and Government of Laos, which is to build human resources for the new society in Laos.

Currently, these comrades are all key officials of the Lao Party, State and Government in both the central and local apparatuses and these comrades continue to be the bridge to develop the close and rare relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
