General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong plants trees and walks at Thang Long Imperial Citadel
On the morning of February 17, in the cool air of the first days of the new spring, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong offered incense to commemorate the ancestors and talented people who contributed to the country and planted trees at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Relic Site.
Also attending the ceremony were Politburo member, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hanoi Vuong Dinh Hue; Chairman of the City People's Committee Chu Ngoc Anh; Chairman of the City People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan along with the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and leaders of a number of departments, branches and Ba Dinh district.
In the sacred space of Thang Long Imperial Citadel, heaven and earth are in harmony, celebrating the Party, celebrating the New Year of Tan Suu 2021,General Secretary, President Nguyen Phu TrongTogether with the delegates, we respectfully offered incense to commemorate the founder of the Ly Dynasty - who established the capital in Thang Long in the fall of 1010. Since then, Thang Long and the country entered a new era, the successive dynasties expanded and built the territory, and built a thousand-year history of culture, passing it down to the glorious Ho Chi Minh era.
The leaders reported to the souls of the ancestors about the results of national construction and development in 2020. Despite many difficulties, especially the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnam still achieved important achievements; successfully organized party congresses at all levels, especially the very successful organization of the 13th National Congress of the Party; maintained socio-economic development, became one of the 10 countries with the highest economic growth in the world, and one of the 16 most successful emerging economies in the world.
General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, the leaders of the Central Government and Hanoi City are determined to promote the cultural and heroic traditions of Thang Long - Hanoi and the noble values of the nation; foster the great national unity bloc to become stronger and stronger; build the capital to become increasingly rich, civilized and modern; and devote themselves to the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization.
After the incense offering ceremony and the tree planting program in early spring, in memory of the great President Ho Chi Minh, who launched the Tree Planting Festival 62 years ago, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong and other leaders of the Central Government and Hanoi City planted a banyan tree in front of Doan Mon Gate.
Presenting gifts to encourage staff of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Relic Site, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong reminded that this place marks a thousand years of history, a sacred convergence, opening up successive dynasties to expand and build the territory, enriching a thousand years of cultural history, passed down to the glorious Ho Chi Minh era...
Therefore, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong requested that the cadres and employees of the relic site must always make every effort to preserve and develop those priceless values; educate future generations to remember the source of water when drinking, to preserve the good values of the Vietnamese people and of Thang Long - Hanoi; to preserve and promote the historical and cultural values of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel heritage site, a world cultural heritage in the thousand-year-old capital of Hanoi.
