General Secretary, President and National Assembly Chairman receive Singaporean Prime Minister
On the afternoon of August 28, after holding talks with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Singaporean Prime Minister met with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
Vietnamese leaders welcomed Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1973 - 2023) and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Strategic Partnership.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said the visit was an important milestone in the development of relations between the two countries.

The General Secretary recalled the good memories, the respectful and warm welcome from the Government during his previous visit to Singapore; expressed his impression of Singapore's development into a prosperous and prestigious country in the international arena.
The General Secretary also expressed his delight at the development of relations between the two countries. Singapore is a neighboring country with an important position in the region and internationally, and has development experience in many fields.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong emphasized that the relationship between the two countries has developed strongly, deeply and expanded into many new areas.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong informed the General Secretary of the results of his discussions with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Vietnamese leaders. The Prime Minister agreed with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's proposals on cooperation, considering them important strategic directions for bilateral cooperation in the coming time.
The Prime Minister expressed his wish to strengthen coordination to contribute to consolidating peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong agreed to increase the exchange of experiences in improving the capacity and position of the ruling party, including discussions on party building, policy making, and cadre training; enhance human resource training for Vietnam, coordinate more effectively at regional and international forums; and increase meetings and exchanges between delegations at all levels.
Welcome the two countries to upgrade relations in the coming time.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, President Vo Van Thuong believed that Singapore will continue to develop dynamically, soon achieve the goals of the "Green Plan 2030", and build a harmonious and increasingly prosperous society.
Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong emphasized that he welcomed the two countries' efforts to upgrade their relations to a new level in the coming time. The Singaporean Prime Minister also informed the President of the signing of seven cooperation documents between the two sides.
Singapore welcomes the upgrading of the Economic Connectivity Framework Agreement between the two economies, as well as the expansion of cooperation in energy and human resource development; Vietnam is a potential partner of Singapore in the region.

The Singaporean Prime Minister also agreed to increase the exchange of experiences in economic management, urban management, and the training and promotion of talents.
The two leaders also welcomed the promotion of high-level exchanges and contacts; the effective implementation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, especially the Ministerial mechanism on Connecting the Two Economies; and the continued effective expansion of VSIP zones - symbols of successful economic cooperation between the two countries.
Besides promoting traditional cooperation, the two leaders also agreed to promote cooperation in innovation, clean energy, equitable energy transition, digital transformation, and exchange of innovative talents.

Discussing international and regional issues, the two leaders agreed that in the context of complex and unpredictable developments in the world, the two sides need to promote similar viewpoints; continue to coordinate and support each other for peace, stability, cooperation and development; and maintain solidarity and common stance of ASEAN, including the East Sea issue.

Vietnamese people welcome the visit of the Singaporean Prime Minister. Images of the Singaporean Prime Minister visiting the streets of Hanoi on the evening of August 27 were not only reported on mass media but also widely shared on social networks.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized a number of contents to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries and the two legislative bodies. These proposals received the approval of the Singaporean Prime Minister.
The two sides agreed to continue effectively implementing the Green Economy - Digital Economy Partnership, promoting new cooperation such as digital connectivity, digital society, circular economy, innovation, clean energy... which are global issues that Vietnam has demand for and Singapore has strengths in.

The two sides agreed to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation more extensively and effectively. The National Assembly Chairman said that VSIP industrial parks are typical examples of combining industrialization and modernization. Assessing VSIP as a prestigious and highly effective model, the National Assembly Chairman hoped that more VSIPs would be deployed in many localities of Vietnam.
The Singaporean Prime Minister said that there are currently 13 VSIP zones in Vietnam and hopes to have more VSIP zones in the future.
The Singaporean Prime Minister shared that after the pandemic, many Singaporeans hope to travel to famous destinations in Vietnam such as Da Nang, Da Lat, Ha Long... Therefore, along with air connections and direct flights, the Singaporean Prime Minister hopes that the two sides will have more sea connections, promoting the connection between the two countries.

The Singaporean Prime Minister also hopes that in the coming time, there will be more international students and officials, including National Assembly officials and National Assembly deputies, coming to study, exchange delegations, and share experiences in Singapore and vice versa.
Discussing parliamentary cooperation, the two leaders said that this is an effective cooperation channel, making a substantial contribution to the bilateral relationship. The two sides need to increase the exchange of experiences in building and perfecting the legal system, promoting close coordination mechanisms and mutual support at multilateral parliamentary forums such as AIPA, IPU, APPF, ASEP, etc.
