General Secretary chairs key leadership meeting on Covid-19 prevention and control

At the Party Central Committee Headquarters, on the morning of August 24, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a working session with key leaders on Covid-19 prevention and control. Also attending the meeting were President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Standing member of the Secretariat Vo Van Thuong, and General To Lam, Minister of Public Security.

Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that this was a necessary meeting in the context of the current complicated epidemic situation. He stated that the Covid-19 epidemic is a major problem for the whole world, not just our country, and is extremely complicated with many new strains.

The General Secretary praised the frontline medical forces, the army, the police, ministries, branches, localities, or in other words, the entire political system, for quickly taking action with great determination and effort in controlling the epidemic, receiving the support of the majority of the people.

However, the General Secretary also pointed out the limitations and confusion, even in some localities, there is still a subjective and negligent mentality in the work of disease prevention and control. In the spirit of calm, not panicking or hasty, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong suggested that the Government, ministries, branches and localities continue to proactively forecast the situation, deploy synchronously, focus on unification, assign tasks coherently, and fully understand the role to effectively control the disease in the coming time.
