General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that our country has just passed through the year of Nham Dan - 2022 with many important, vibrant and rich events. In the context of the world, regional and domestic situation with many difficulties and challenges, with persistent efforts, determination, mettle and creativity, our entire Party, people and army have united, overcome difficulties and challenges, and achieved many important and quite comprehensive results and achievements in all fields.

Notably, the economy grew by more than 8%, much higher than the plan of 6-6.5%, budget revenue increased by more than 14%... The main sectors of the economy have recovered and developed strongly.

Culture and society have made new breakthroughs and progress; social security is guaranteed; social welfare and people's lives are cared for and significantly improved; poverty reduction, implementation of preferential policies for people with meritorious services, and health care for people are actively implemented.

The work of Party building and rectification and the political system, and the prevention and fight against corruption and negativity continued to be promoted, with very positive changes, achieving many outstanding and impressive results. The political and social situation was stable, national defense and security were strengthened, and national sovereignty was maintained. Foreign affairs and international integration activities continued to be expanded, becoming increasingly in-depth and effective, and were considered a bright spot in the past year.

The democratic atmosphere within the Party and in society is increasingly promoted. The Resolutions of the 5th and 6th Central Committees of the 13th Party Congress have been deployed to the grassroots. We have successfully organized many national cadre conferences, including the National Conference summarizing 10 years of anti-corruption and anti-negativity work in the period 2012-2022.

In particular, the Politburo issued 6 specialized Resolutions on the development of 6 key regions, including: the Northern Midlands and Mountains, the Mekong Delta, the Central Highlands, the Southeast, the North Central and Central Coast, and the Red River Delta, and immediately organized national conferences to thoroughly grasp the basic contents of these Resolutions; which have created and are creating a combined strength, creating a new position and force for the country to continue developing, with the spirit of: "First call, then support", "One call, all respond", "Unanimity from top to bottom", "Consistency across the board".

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his respect and deep gratitude to veteran revolutionaries, cadres, party members, compatriots and soldiers nationwide, and our compatriots abroad who have made great contributions to the cause of national construction and defense in recent years, especially for creating outstanding marks in 2022.

Emphasizing that 2023 is a pivotal year for implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan (2021 - 2025), posing many new difficulties and challenges, requiring the entire Party, people and army to continue to strive and make every effort to achieve the set goals to successfully complete the tasks of 2023, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stated: The immediate key task is to overcome difficulties, remove obstacles, boost production and business; take care of the lives of people, cadres and soldiers on duty at the border, sea and islands, protecting the Fatherland; overcome the consequences of natural disasters and epidemics; take care of people to celebrate Tet and enjoy a peaceful Spring.

To fulfill the tasks in the coming time, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong requested that the entire Party, people and army strengthen solidarity, become even more united, become even more determined; join hands and unite, promote the spirit of patriotism, Vietnamese bravery and intelligence, and the cultural traditions of the nation; strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges, turn favorable opportunities into reality; and build our country to be increasingly prosperous and happy.

In the atmosphere of welcoming the New Year and celebrating the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong wishes our people's revolutionary cause to achieve many new and greater victories; 2023 will be even greater, develop faster and more sustainably than 2022.
