General Secretary To Lam offers incense at Vi Xuyen National Martyrs Cemetery

On the afternoon of February 5, General Secretary To Lam and his delegation offered incense to commemorate heroic martyrs at Vi Xuyen National Martyrs Cemetery (Ha Giang province).

Accompanying the delegation were Politburo members: Le Minh Hung - Head of the Central Organizing Committee; Nguyen Duy Ngoc - Head of the Central Inspection Committee; General Phan Van Giang - Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang - Minister of Public Security and leaders of a number of central ministries and branches.

Vi Xuyen National Martyrs Cemetery is the resting place of more than 1,800 martyrs and mass graves of martyrs in the fight to protect the northern border of the Fatherland.

In this war, the heroic martyrs fought bravely to protect every inch of the sacred land of the Fatherland with the will of "not moving an inch, not moving a millimeter", determined to hold firmly every hilltop, cliff, and high point with the courageous spirit of "living on the rocks to fight the enemy, dying to become immortal in stone".

At the Vi Xuyen front, more than 4,000 officers and soldiers heroically sacrificed their lives, more than 9,000 people were injured, and there are still thousands of remains of officers and soldiers scattered in crevices and deep valleys that have not been found and collected.

The exploits and names of the heroic martyrs have become immortal, engraved in the history of the nation and forever remembered in the minds of every generation of Vietnamese people.

In a solemn atmosphere, in front of the Martyrs' Temple and the Monument of the Fatherland, General Secretary To Lam and delegates spent a minute in silence and offered flowers and incense to commemorate and express gratitude for the heroic martyrs; praying for the souls of the heroic martyrs to be reborn in the Pure Land, to rest in eternal peace, and for their sacred souls to continue to bless the nation, for the prosperous and everlasting development of Vietnam.

The delegation vows: To forever remember the heroic martyrs' contributions, to be absolutely loyal to the goals and ideals of the Communist Party of Vietnam, to forever follow the path chosen by the Party, Uncle Ho and the people, to join hands and be determined to build the homeland and the country - entering a new era of development, an era of the Vietnamese people's rise.
