Summary of foreign information work; propaganda on sea, islands and border demarcation and marker planting in 2015
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 30, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda Department held a national conference to review foreign information work; propaganda on seas, islands, demarcation and marker planting in 2015, and deploy tasks for 2016. Comrade Dinh The Huynh - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Head of the Steering Committee for foreign information work chaired.
The conference was attended by more than 600 delegates representing leaders of departments, ministries, branches, socio-political organizations, representatives of 63 provinces and cities and press agencies nationwide.

In 2015, foreign information work; propaganda on seas, islands, and demarcation and marker planting continued to have many important changes. The direction and coordination of foreign information tasks in ministries, branches, and localities were focused on improving. Foreign information activities in ministries, branches, localities, Vietnamese representative units abroad, and foreign press agencies were organized systematically, synchronously, and increasingly put into practice.
Information from Vietnam to foreign countries, information in foreign languages has developed in both quantity and quality. Propaganda work on important events of the country, Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 12th National Party Congress, propaganda on international integration... has received special attention.

Propaganda work on the East Sea, demarcation, and marker planting on land has been focused on. Public opinion has been oriented and effective combating against false information and distorted arguments of opportunistic and hostile forces has contributed to gaining support from the international community and overseas Vietnamese for the cause of fighting to maintain sovereignty over seas, islands, and national borders, and to preserve a peaceful and stable environment for national development.
In addition to the important achievements, the Conference also pointed out the limitations and weaknesses that need to be focused on overcoming such as: The organizational, direction and coordination mechanism has been innovated but is not yet synchronous and tight, and has not promoted the combined strength of the entire political system; the work of monitoring and forecasting the situation in some cases is not very effective, affecting the quality of consulting, directing and guiding; the content and form of propaganda publications are not rich, attractive, and suitable for each locality and specific target; information in foreign languages, although increased, has not yet reached many important targets; the effectiveness and persuasiveness in the struggle are still low...

In his concluding remarks at the Conference, Comrade Dinh The Huynh commended the efforts of all levels, sectors, localities and units in enhancing foreign information, promoting sea and island affairs and demarcation and marker planting, contributing significantly to creating a stable environment and favorable conditions for protecting and developing the country.

He emphasized that 2016 is the year of the 12th National Party Congress, opening the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2016-2020. The domestic situation will still face many difficulties and challenges; the international and regional situations, and the situation in the East Sea, are forecast to continue to have complex and unpredictable developments.
In that context, foreign information work; propaganda on seas, islands, and demarcation and marker planting need to focus on a number of key tasks on the basis of thoroughly grasping Vietnam's foreign policies, viewpoints and guidelines stated in the documents of the 12th National Party Congress; further improving the quality of advice and direction on propaganda orientation, fighting against false information and distorted arguments of opportunistic and hostile forces; continuing to promote propaganda of Vietnam's viewpoints to neighboring countries and major countries on the country's peaceful, independent and autonomous foreign policy; further gaining international public opinion's support for Vietnam in protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
At the Conference, the Central Propaganda Department awarded certificates of merit to 25 groups and 18 individuals with outstanding achievements in foreign information work, sea and island propaganda and border demarcation and marker planting in 2015.
