Speaking at the ceremony, President Duda said that Poland's policy reform program is still unfinished, including many difficult issues, and he hopes that with his experience in the previous government, the new prime minister and the new government will overcome challenges and complete the assigned tasks.
For his part, Prime Minister-designate Morawiecki expressed his honor at being assigned the new task, and pledged to continue implementing the government's current reform program, promoting economic growth, strengthening security and raising Poland's position in the international arena.
Morawiecki was nominated by the ruling Law and Justice Party leadership to become prime minister on the evening of December 7 after Beata Szydlo submitted her resignation. At the ceremony to appoint the new prime minister, President Duda also accepted Szydlo's resignation.
Law and Justice Party politicians say that changing the Polish prime minister at this time shows the government's determination to focus on economic development in the remaining two years of its term. Experts hope that the new Prime Minister Morawiecki will find a common voice with Western countries in resolving some of the current controversial issues between Poland and the European Union.
Next Tuesday, the House of Representatives is expected to vote on the new government of Mr. Morawiecki, which will mainly consist of the same old faces from the previous government. The official composition of the new government is expected to be announced in January./.
