French President Francois Hollande said that the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) terrorist group has declared war on France. |
According to the French leader, his country needs to "wage war on IS with all available means." He called the hostage taking and killing of the priest in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray a "cowardly terrorist act."
On the morning of July 26, two men armed with knives stormed into a Catholic church and took five people hostage.
Rapid response team soldiers stormed the church and killed the criminals. Before that, they managed to kill the priest and injure the hostages.
The Amaq news agency, which has sources from IS, confirmed that the attackers supported the self-proclaimed "Islamic State" (IS). In early July, the terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack in Nice on July 14.
