US President was treated to La Vong fish cakes during lunch with Vietnamese Prime Minister
Vietnamese leaders treated the US President to traditional dishes such as La Vong fish cakes and lotus seed sweet soup.

After holding talks with General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong this morning, US President Donald Trump left the Presidential Palace and met with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the Government Office.
President Trump tweeted at 10 a.m. praising Vietnam's development and commenting that North Korea could be just as rich if it gave up its nuclear weapons program. "Amazing potential, a great opportunity, almost unprecedented in history for my friend Kim Jong-un. We'll soon find out. Very exciting!"
After the meeting, President Trump and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, along with their delegation, had an intimate lunch. According toReuters, the lunch menu includes La Vong fish cake, a typical dish of Hanoi.
The appetizer is green mango salad with scallops, mint leaves, cashew nuts mixed with sweet vinegar oil. Next is Hanoi spring rolls filled with shrimp, meat, vermicelli and vegetables, dipped in sweet and sour fish sauce and fresh chili. The main course is king crab and spinach cooked in seafood broth. The final course is La Vong fish cake, or grilled premium Wagyu beef served with foie gras and sauce, along with garlic-stir-fried chayote and lotus leaf sticky rice. Dessert is lotus seed sweet soup, longan, and snow fungus.
According to the schedule released by the White House, President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will meet at the Metropole Hotel tonight at 6:30 p.m. and will have a private conversation lasting 20 minutes. After that, the two leaders will have dinner for about an hour and a half with their advisors.
