According to Mr. Putin, in such cases “one must always look for interested people.”
“Who cares? Theoretically, countries are certainly interested in stopping Russian energy supplies to the European market and supplying their own volumes, including liquefied natural gas (LNG). Even if it is much more expensive, 25-30% more than Russia,” RIA Novosti quoted Putin as saying on March 14.
According to President Putin, several explosive devices may have been planted to carry out a terrorist attack on Nord Stream - some exploded, some did not.
“Apparently, several explosive devices were planted in the pipeline – some of them exploded, but others did not,” Mr. Putin said.
In addition, the Russian president has dismissed recent comments that the attack on the Nord Stream pipeline was carried out by “pro-Ukrainian groups”.
“I can confirm that this is complete nonsense. An explosion like this, with such power and depth, could only be carried out by specialists and supported by a country that possesses certain technologies,” Mr. Putin added.
The US has not yet commented on Russia's statement.
