President Putin: Russia does not seek confrontation with the US

At the beginning of the meeting, the Russian leader said that the bilateral relationship is currently "not in the best condition".
He said Mr Bolton's visit to Moscow raised hopes that at least the two sides could take the first step towards restoring full-fledged relations between the two countries.
President Putin affirmed that Russia does not seek confrontation with the United States. He also congratulated the United States on winning the right to host the 2026 World Cup and declared his readiness to share experience in organizing this sporting event with Washington.
For his part, US National Security Advisor Bolton said he looked forward to discussions aimed at improving relations between Moscow and Washington.
On the same day, Mr. Bolton met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The two sides discussed the situation in Syria, Ukraine and bilateral relations.
Earlier, Mr. Bolton held talks with First Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Mr. Yuri Averyanov, on the possibility of cooperation between the Russian and US security councils.
