Chairing a Security Council meeting for the first time since becoming president, Donald Trump said China was trying to interfere in the upcoming US election to undermine his administration. However, Trump did not provide any evidence for his accusation.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi denied the accusations and affirmed that China will not interfere in the internal affairs of any country and refuses to accept the accusations against the country.
A senior official in the Trump administration also accused China of using political, economic, commercial, military and information tools to influence American public opinion and promote the interests of the Chinese government and Communist Party.
An unnamed US official said US Vice President Mike Pence is expected to give a detailed speech next week on the accusations against China and the US government is seeking to decipher more information on the issue./.
