The US government plans to once again allow oil and gas production in protected lands in Alaska, TASS reported on January 28. US President Donald Trump said on January 27 that the reserves from this exploitation will be able to meet the energy needs of all of Asia.

“And we’ll do it very quickly. Now, I think I’ll do it by executive order because they haven’t gone through Congress yet,” President Trump said.

“So I think we’ll do it quickly,” Mr. Trump added. “This is something that can supply all of Asia because of its location. The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge can supply all of Asia.”

The US President said: "This is a large oil field, with the largest exploitation capacity in the world, larger than Saudi Arabia."

The US leader also emphasized that, unlike the first thing former President Joe Biden's administration did, which was to end the Arctic National Monument in Alaska, his administration will open "the largest, most powerful oil field in the world."

The administration of former President Joe Biden restricted oil and gas leasing in Alaska, including exploration and drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

During his election campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly stated that if he won, he would seek US energy dominance in the world. This implied an increase in US energy production and an increase in the country's global export market share.
