Ukrainian President decides to take advantage of 'Nord Stream - 2' to meet Mr. Putin
(Baonghean.vn) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that the issue of the "Nord Stream - 2" gas pipeline could promote the organization of his meeting with Russian President Putin.
"It is the sovereign right of the Federal Republic of Germany to conduct its dialogue (with Russia), especially on economic issues. Regarding sanctions, I spoke with Chancellor Scholz today about Nord Stream 2. In our case, it is a security issue. It is a very important tool for talking with the Russian Federation, and I think it is very fair...", Mr. Zelensky said in a conversation with the press in Brussels.

"Today that tool is in the hands of the leaders of a number of European countries. Chancellor Scholz plays one of the key roles in this matter. Thanks to such a tool, I can organize a meeting with President Putin, where some changes in the implementation of the Minsk agreements or other steps to end the military conflict in the east of the country can be decided," Mr. Zenlensky continued.
Nord Stream 2 is a gas pipeline with a capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. Currently, the pipeline operator is Nord Stream 2 AG, with Gazprom as the sole shareholder.
