Vinh City: Meeting the need for clean water in the summer

(Baonghean) - Most of the raw water supply for Hung Vinh Water Plant - Vinh City and Vinh Suburban Water Supply Enterprise (Cau Bach Water Plant - Nam Dan) is exploited from Lam River water supplied by Song Lam Water Supply Joint Stock Company. And from there, Nghe An Water Supply Company Limited proactively produces and supplies clean water to customers in Vinh City, especially during the peak summer season.

Previously, during the peak summer season, the raw water source serving Hung Vinh Water Plant - Vinh City and the Vinh Suburban Water Supply Enterprise was always severely lacking, due to the main water source being exploited from Dao River - Nam Dan.

Mr. Trinh Van Thang - Head of Planning - Business Department, Nghe An Water Supply Company Limited, said: "In recent years, in the summer, the prolonged dry weather has caused the depletion of the Dao River's water source, especially in the summer of 2015, many times the water level of the Dao River (at Cau Muou) dropped to -0.3m below the designed low water level, so the company had to dredge mud, clear the flow at the raw water collection pits of Cau Muou and Cau Duoc water pumping stations, reinforce the barrier system and prevent oil and grease discharged by ships on the river, connect more pipes to the suction line of the raw water collection pit at Cau Muou...

But, in the summer of 2016, there was no longer any worry about the lack of raw water, because Nghe An Water Supply Company Limited coordinated very effectively and promptly with Song Lam Water Supply Joint Stock Company to get Song Lam water to supply to Hung Vinh and Cau Bach water plants.

Currently, Nghe An Water Supply Company Limited has enough capacity to meet the needs of customers in Vinh City and surrounding areas (including Hung Vinh Water Plant with a capacity of 60,000 m3/day and Vinh Suburban Water Supply Enterprise with a capacity of 20,000 m3/day).

One of the issues that Nghe An Water Supply Company Limited is particularly concerned about is checking the quality of water sources, treated water at the factory and treated water at households, on that basis, there are appropriate treatment solutions to improve the quality of clean water, ensuring standards according to QCVN 01/BYT of the Ministry of Health (quality testing is carried out by the Provincial Center for Preventive Medicine).

Mr. Le Duc Thang - Director of Hung Vinh Water Plant said: "During the peak period of summer, the plant focuses on improving production capacity to supply clean water to customers, while at the same time always ensuring water quality by enhancing industrial hygiene measures such as: flushing the system of ditches, troughs, discharging mud according to regulations, adjusting to increase preliminary chlorination before bringing raw water into treatment (to increase safety in disinfection, treatment of organic compounds, odors...). In the first 6 months of 2016, the plant provided customers with more than 7.6 million m2 of clean water".

Actively participating in improving the capacity of clean water supply for customers in Vinh City is the Vinh Suburban Water Supply Enterprise. Thanks to investment in modern European technology and equipment and an American operating system, the factory is large in scale, but each production shift only requires 2 technical staff to operate and directly produce at the factory.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Thao - Director of Vinh City Suburban Water Supply Enterprise said: "Along with providing clean water to people in Nam Dan, Hung Nguyen and Nghi Loc districts, the enterprise also undertakes the task of providing clean water for projects in Nam Cam Industrial Park, Cua Lo Town and Vinh City. In the first 6 months of 2016, it has provided customers with nearly 1.1 million m3 of clean water".

Due to the increasing number of customers with clean water needs (currently there are nearly 103,000 customers using clean water), in order to meet the demand, Nghe An Water Supply Company Limited innovates in management and operation, boldly applying the Scanda management system using high technology with modern computer equipment, helping the company monitor water pressure on the entire water supply pipeline network. Along with that, completing the overall design of the pipeline network system according to the network separation zoning model for Vinh City and surrounding areas.

In recent times, the company has continued to expand the water supply network to key areas according to the planning of the Provincial People's Committee, such as: VSIP Nghe An Industrial and Service Complex; Investing in water supply pipelines for Masan Company's factory cluster in Dong Nam Economic Zone; Providing water for Cua Lo Town with more than 30,000 m3/month; Developing pipeline D300 on Dang Thai Mai Street to take water from Cau Bach Water Plant to supply to the Northeast of Vinh City and pipeline D200 on Pham Hong Thai Street to supply clean water to the Southwest of the city.

With the timely support of relevant levels and sectors and the efforts of Nghe An Water Supply Company Limited, this summer, customers in Vinh City and surrounding areas have had their clean water needs fully and promptly met.
