Vinh City: Urging to collect 238 billion VND of tax arrears
(Baonghean.vn) - According to the Vinh City Tax Department, as of the end of April 2018, there were over 500 enterprises in Vinh City owing taxes with a total amount of over 238 billion VND. Of which, the amount of debt that cannot be paid accounts for over 70%.

Currently, in Vinh City, the situation of enterprises with long-term tax arrears is quite common, significantly affecting the budget collection. Although the Tax Department has stepped up many solutions, the tax arrears situation is still complicated and increasing.
For example, An Chau Joint Stock Company, after many years of ineffective paper production, went bankrupt. It is worth mentioning that this company still owes the Vinh City Tax Department over 5 billion VND and is considered a bad debt.
The company said: "Of the debt of over 5 billion VND, 2.2 billion is principal debt, the rest is late interest penalty. The company is planning to restore production and business. After resuming operations and having revenue, we will gradually pay the principal debt to the state."
Mr. Nghiem Xuan Dinh - Head of Inspection Team No. 2, Vinh City Tax Department said: "In the process of collecting tax debts, we encountered many difficulties. Most of the enterprises with tax debts operate in the construction sector, with limited financial capacity. During the operation, due to the prolonged debt situation of construction and basic construction, these enterprises are unable to pay taxes, late payment leads to high interest and penalties. In addition, some enterprises evade responsibility and do not voluntarily fulfill their tax obligations to the state."
In order to achieve the highest results in collecting tax arrears, contributing to the completion of the 2018 budget revenue target of VND 2,146 billion, Vinh City Tax Department has proposed solutions such as: Reorganizing the interdisciplinary tax debt collection team, issuing inspection and direction documents. Strictly implementing the debt management process, from debt classification, debt payment urging, thoroughly applying tax debt enforcement measures.
In addition, every month, the City Tax Department sends text messages to the phone numbers of directors of tax-indebted enterprises to remind them. At the same time, it publicizes information about enterprises with long-term tax arrears on mass media; strictly handles enterprises with signs of crime, absconding and still owing taxes...
