Vinh City will launch a campaign to reclaim sidewalks from April 2017.

(Baonghean.vn) - From April 2017, Vinh City will focus on clearing sidewalk corridors. The Vinh City Party Secretary affirmed that he will strictly handle the heads of Party committees and authorities of wards and communes if the re-encroachment situation still occurs.

This is the direction of comrade Vo Viet Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee at the meeting between the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the city's departments and branches to discuss the implementation of this content on the afternoon of March 6.

At the meeting, Vinh City Party Secretary Vo Viet Thanh emphasized that the city determined that urban beautification work is extremely important given the fact that this area still has many shortcomings, not commensurate with a civilized, modern city and is implementing the goal of becoming the center of the North Central region in 10 fields.

Although Vinh City has implemented Directive No. 05 on strengthening the leadership of Party committees at all levels in urban order management in the area since 2011, however, according to the assessment of the head of Vinh City Party Committee, after launching the campaign, the results have only "thrown stones into the pond", so the Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee emphasized two tasks: to do a good job of educating and propagating awareness to the people; at the same time, inspect and strictly handle violations.

Specifically, the Vinh City Party Secretary requested that this urban beautification work will be implemented from 2017 to 2020; in 2017, Vinh City will focus on clearing sidewalk corridors, while simultaneously planning, arranging, and clearly defining parking lots... in a synchronous manner.

To effectively implement the plan, the Vinh City Party Secretary assigned the Vinh City People's Committee to complete the plan in March 2017, and at the same time deploy it to wards and communes; disseminate and specifically propagate it to all people, cadres and civil servants for implementation.

The Vinh City Party Secretary assigned to carry out propaganda work well for the people; at the same time, assigned responsibility to each member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee to head each working group to direct the wards and communes to carry out steps to clear the sidewalks.

Vinh City Party Secretary Vo Viet Thanh also noted that during the implementation process, these working groups will carry out sidewalk clearance in a rolling manner and hand over the work to the wards and communes for management as it progresses.

Especially after the announcement, propaganda, clearance, and placing of signs but if there are still violations, the head of Vinh City Party Committee requested that the functional forces including Vinh City Police, City Order Management Team, and Urban Rules Team of wards and communes must resolutely and seriously handle any violators.

On the other hand, the Vinh City Party Secretary also said that there will be disciplinary measures against the heads of Party committees and authorities of wards and communes if sidewalk re-encroachment occurs in the area. The City Party Secretary can suspend Party Committee Secretaries, and the Chairman can suspend Chairmen of wards and communes if re-encroachment continues to occur, the Vinh City Party Secretary emphasized.

Previously, presenting the draft implementation plan, Vice Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee Le Sy Chien said that in March, wards and communes of Vinh City will organize propaganda and mobilize people to voluntarily dismantle constructions that violate urban order and starting from April 2017, the city's working groups will begin to inspect and handle violations.
