(Baonghean.vn) - The spring rice crop is in harvest time, but in recent days, heavy rains and tornadoes have caused many rice fields to collapse. Taking advantage of the sunny weather, Nghe An farmers are urgently harvesting rice to minimize damage.

Mr. Le Van Hong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Thanh district said: In the recent rains, the whole district had over 50 hectares of spring rice that had fallen; currently, people are harvesting manually and have harvested over 70%. Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc - Head of the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection added: Due to the impact of the cold air, since May 7, Nghe An province has had heavy rain, causing nearly 1,800 hectares of rice to fall over. The whole province has 91,000 hectares of spring rice. Up to now, localities have harvested 800/1,800 hectares of fallen rice, with an estimated yield of 68.5 quintals/ha, an increase of 1 quintal/ha compared to the spring crop in 2022.
