Eliminate groups of subjects transporting, storing, and trading rare animals and products
The Criminal Police Department (Provincial Police) has just eliminated a group of subjects violating regulations on the protection of endangered, precious and rare animals; confiscating nearly 170kg of individuals, parts and products of endangered, precious and rare animals.
Previously, through the work of grasping the situation, the Criminal Police Department discovered that in Do Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, there was a group of subjects with signs of committing crimes related to the act of transporting, storing, and trading a large number of individuals, parts, and products of endangered, precious, and rare animals from abroad to Vietnam.

Using synchronous and effective professional measures, from December 15 to 19, 2024, the Criminal Police Department presided over and coordinated with the professional departments of the Provincial Police, Yen Thanh District Police and Lang Son Provincial Police to simultaneously deploy many working groups to arrest 04 subjects for the act of "Violating regulations on the protection of endangered, precious and rare animals". They are: Hoang Van Niem (born in 1990); Dang Huu Giao (born in 1989); Vo Suong The (born in 1991) and Hoang Van Khoi (born in 1991), all residing in Do Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district.
During the investigation, the police determined that the subjects had family and friend relationships, so they were connected and had specific and close division of tasks during the crime.
In which, as the mastermind and leader, Hoang Van Niem contacted to order pangolin scales and other wildlife products from abroad, transported them to Ho Chi Minh City, then sent them by bus to Do Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district.

Here, Niem hired Giao and The to screen, clean and package the above products to transport to the northern border provinces to sell for profit.
To deceive the authorities, Niem instructed Giao to create a secret compartment in the back of Giao's pickup truck to hide the pangolin scales during transportation.
The exhibits seized in the case include: more than 156 kg of Java pangolin scales, 01 Java pangolin carcass with scales removed weighing 6.1 kg; more than 4.9 kg of animal products (fangs, claws, knee bones of lions, wild boars, clouded leopards); 02 mobile phones; 02 cars; 01 electronic table scale and many related exhibits.
