Eliminated female gambling ring worth nearly 200 billion VND in Nghe An

Accordingly, around mid-August 2021, through the work of grasping the local situation, Hoang Mai Town Police discovered a gambling ring in the form of recording lottery numbers with a very large number of daily transactions. The ring leader formed a network of followers in the areas of Quynh Di, Quynh Thien wards and Quynh Vinh commune, attracting dozens of participants.

Initial investigation revealed that this was an organized gambling ring, operating in a secretive manner, closely linked together, using many sophisticated tricks to deceive the public and the authorities. Many of the subjects in this gambling ring had criminal records, affecting security and order in the area.

Faced with that situation, under the direction of Major General Pham The Tung, Director of the Provincial Police, Hoang Mai Town Police established a special project to concentrate forces to fight and dismantle.gambling linewith this large scale.

During the investigation, Hoang Mai Town Police coordinated with the provincial police departments and the departments under the Ministry of Public Security to collect information, consolidate documents and evidence to serve the investigation against the subjects. Thereby, the investigation team determined that the amount of money the subjects used for gambling per day fluctuated on average over 1 billion VND. However, after the transaction, they destroyed the documents and evidence, making the investigation difficult.

However, with the high determination of the Hoang Mai town police force, they monitor and grasp the activities of the subjects in the network day and night to effectively fight, contributing to ensuring security and order in the area, especially near the Lunar New Year of Nham Dan 2022.

By January 24, 2022, the task force had mobilized more than 80 officers and soldiers, deployed into 13 working groups to simultaneously arrest 11 lottery and number betting points in the network, arresting 15 subjects, including: 10 women, 5 men residing in communes and wards of Hoang Mai town.

Initially, the Investigation Police Agency has clarified the gambling behavior in the form of lottery numbers of 15 subjects, clarifying the gambling amount on January 24, 2022 to be over 1 billion VND; confiscating 2 computers, 18 mobile phones, 15 books, 20 lottery cables and 1,650,000,000 VND. The total amount of money the subjects used for gambling from the time of discovery to the time of arrest was nearly 200 billion VND.

Currently, Hoang Mai Town Police are continuing to investigate and expand the case, arrest the remaining subjects and consolidate the case file to strictly handle the subjects according to the provisions of the law.
