North Korea threatens to 'sink' Japan, turn US into ashes
(Baonghean.vn) - On September 14, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) issued a message threatening to use nuclear weapons to “sink” Japan and turn the United States into “ashes and darkness,” citing the countries’ support for the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution and sanctions related to the Northeast Asian country’s latest nuclear test.
The Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, which handles North Korea's foreign relations and propaganda, also called for a severance of ties with the UNSC. According to the committee, the UNSC is "an instrument of evil" whose members are "bribed" by money to act on US orders.

KCNA quoted the committee's announcement as emphasizing: "The four islands of the archipelago (of Japan) must be sunk into the sea by nuclear bombs of the Juche ideology. Japan must not exist near us anymore." The Juche ideology is the official ideology of North Korea, the most important ideology of the founder Kim Il-sung, grandfather of current North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
KCNA continued to quote the committee's statement saying: "We will turn the US mainland into ashes and darkness. Let's vent our anger by taking all the revenge measures that have been prepared so far."

In addition, North Korea specifically condemned Japan for being “manipulated by the US,” saying that Japan should never be forgiven for failing to offer a sincere apology for its “unpardonable crimes against our people.” This argument was clearly a reference to the wartime crimes of Japanese fascism. The statement also harshly criticized South Korea as “traitors” to the US.
Immediately after North Korea's latest threat, Japan strongly condemned Pyongyang. Speaking to reporters on September 14, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said: "This statement is an outrageous and excessive provocation. It is an issue that causes significant tension in the region and is completely unacceptable"./.
