The La Quinta Inn & Suites hotel in Montana, USA, had its entire ATM stolen by a man without him knowing, Kulr8 reported yesterday.
The suspect entered the hotel through the front door at approximately 3 p.m. on December 9, climbed the stairs to the upper floor, through the hallway, and down the stairs to where the ATM was located. After removing the ATM from its latch on the floor, the suspect left the building with the stolen items between 7:20 p.m. and 7:25 p.m.
"He was able to move it across the hotel floor. That's amazing, because these things are heavy," hotel general manager Gail Linnel said of the stolen ATM, which weighed between 90 and 140 kilograms.
Between 8pm and 8:15pm, she was informed about the incident. "On the camera, we did not see the tool this man was carrying, nor did we hear any clear sounds. Whatever it was, it was in his pocket," she said.
The police have identified the man in the video, but have not yet been arrested, the director said. Police declined to say how much money was in the ATM at the time of the theft.
