Growing super sweet potatoes in winter can earn over 1 billion VND
(Baonghean.vn) - This winter crop, Thanh Van commune, Thanh Chuong district (Nghe An) expanded the area of super sweet potato to 12 hectares, striving to earn more than a billion VND.

This winter crop, Thanh Van commune, Thanh Chuong district plans to grow 100 hectares of various vegetables. Of these, 60 hectares will be grown on double-rice land, and the remaining area will be grown on alluvial land.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duy Thien - Director of Thanh Van Agricultural Service Cooperative, the new thing in the locality in this winter crop is the concentrated planting structure of 2 hectares of super-tubers of sweet potatoes and about 10 hectares of scattered planting in hamlets. The Cooperative provides 100 varieties of seeds to the people.

Last winter crop, Thanh Van planted about 6 hectares of super sweet potatoes. The Agricultural Service Cooperative proactively contacted traders at wholesale markets for agricultural products in Vinh City, Do Luong District... to directly purchase them at the fields for people at a price of 4,000 - 6,000 VND/kg. 1 hectare of super sweet potatoes yielded over 20 tons of tubers.

This year, the cooperative continues to contact traders at wholesale markets to sell to members. With 12 hectares of super sweet potatoes this year, if the selling price is the same as last year, Thanh Van will earn over 1 billion VND, the highest compared to other crops in the winter crop...
Due to unfavorable weather, Thanh Chuong district has so far only been able to plant 210/3,500 hectares of various winter crops. Thanh Chuong is expected to finish planting the winter crop before October 30. Currently, farmers are mainly growing vegetables on alluvial land.
