Three missiles hit the headquarters of Yemen's Prime Minister and Cabinet in the southern port city of Aden, causing a huge explosion that shook the city.

According to security sources, the Al-Qasr hotel, which is used as a base by senior Yemeni officials on the western outskirts of Aden city, was hit.

Yemeni government spokesman Rajeh Badi said Prime Minister Khaled Bahah and all ministers were safe after the attack and evacuated to another heavily guarded location.

At least 18 people were killed in the attack, most of them UAE soldiers tasked with protecting the headquarters, medical sources said.

A security source also said a military base in Aden's Buraiga district used by the UAE was also hit by a missile.

Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, Prime Minister Bahah and ministers returned to Aden last month, after nearly six months in exile in Saudi Arabia following the Houthi siege of the city.

A nine-nation coalition led by Saudi Arabia has carried out military strikes against the Houthi forces in an effort to restore President Hadi's regime./.
