Trump praises China's proposal to remove term limits on presidents
President Trump said the US could try to follow China's proposal to remove term limits for the president and vice president.

In response to the news that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on February 25 proposed removing the two-term limit for the president and vice president, US President Donald Trump said he wanted to do the same.
"He can now be president for life. President for life. And he's fantastic,"CNN"Look, he has the ability to do it. I think it's a pretty great thing. Maybe someday we should try it," Trump told Republican supporters at a closed-door meeting on March 3 in Florida, referring to Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to a detailed transcript of the meeting.

Xi Jinping, 64, began his second five-year term last year after the party's national congress. Experts say a proposal to remove term limits for China's president and vice president could help Xi stay in power beyond 2023, giving him the greatest power he has ever wielded.
