In response to the news that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China proposed on February 25 to remove the two-term limit for the president and vice president, US President Donald Trump said he wanted to do the same.
"He can now be president for life. President for life. And he's fantastic,"CNN“Look, he has the ability to do it,” Trump told Republican supporters at a closed-door meeting in Florida on March 3, referring to Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to a detailed transcript of the meeting. “I think it’s a pretty great thing. Maybe someday we should try it.”
In addition, the US President also complained about the fact that Hillary Clinton was not investigated after the 2016 election. He said that the US is maintaining a "rigged system" and there are not "the right people" in the right positions to fix this situation.
Xi Jinping, 64, began his second five-year term last year after the party’s national congress. Experts say a proposal to remove term limits for China’s president and vice president could help Xi stay in power beyond 2023, giving him the most power he has ever wielded.
