Trump considers new immigration ban

US President Donald Trump is considering issuing a new immigration ban, possibly as early as next week, and has no plans to appeal to the Supreme Court.

US President Donald Trump unexpectedly met reporters on Air Force One as he flew from Florida to Washington late on February 10. President Trump said he was considering a "new executive order", which could be implemented as early as February 13 or 14 if he chooses this option, Reuters reported.

On January 27, Mr. Trump signed an executive order banning citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States for 90 days. On February 3, US federal judge James Robart ruled to stop the executive order, prompting the US Department of Justice to file an appeal with the 9th District Court of Appeals in San Francisco.

The appeals court upheld Robart’s ruling on February 9. The US Supreme Court will next review the order if requested.

President Trump said security concerns required a quicker response. "Unfortunately, this lawsuit is taking time, but we will prevail," he said.

A White House official confirmed they were "considering changes or new orders to protect America from terrorism." "The ruling to stop the order, we will not go to the Supreme Court. We are reviewing all options in the court system," the person said.
