Speaking to reporters on September 4, US National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien said that China is the most active country in trying to interfere in the US election. Mr. O'Brien also emphasized that the US has sent a clear message to China, Russia, Iran and other countries that have not been made public that any attempt to interfere in the US election will face huge consequences.

Mr. O'Brien said last month that the United States had detected Chinese hackers targeting U.S. election systems. Meanwhile, China has denied U.S. government allegations that it has infiltrated the computer systems of American companies, politicians and government agencies.

US intelligence has accused Russia of conducting a cyber attack campaign to change the results of the 2016 US presidential election in favour of Donald Trump. Russia has denied this accusation. There is also information that Russian hackers may seek to influence the US election in November./.
