According to these researchers, despite the continuous efforts of Chinese and US officials to resolve the disagreement that has lasted for the past 7 months, the confrontation in the economic, technological and geopolitical fields between the two largest economies in the world is expected to continue and increase tensions, so Beijing needs to focus on strengthening relations with its Asian neighbors.
The Deputy Director of the Institute of Japanese Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) said: "China is too dependent on the US economy. China needs to strengthen cooperation with Japan to ease or even resolve conflicts with the US."
According to this expert, in the context of Washington becoming increasingly hostile to Chinese investment in advanced industries such as aviation, robotics and artificial intelligence, Beijing needs to shift its policy focus to Asia.

This requires greater cooperation with Japan and South Korea – through a trilateral free trade agreement – and greater integration with the region as a whole, through the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). China should also consider joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), the expert said.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Truong Huy Dao, founder and president of the Center for China and Globalization Studies, said that being a member of CPTPP will create a defense to help China become less dependent on the US./.
