According to the white paper titled "New Progress in Legal Protection of Human Rights in China," the Communist Party of China (CPC) affirmed its uncompromising determination in the fight against corruption.
The CPC has revised rules on clean conduct, regulations on discipline, accountability, internal party supervision, and inspections to create a framework for preventing and combating systemic corruption.
The White Paper stated that the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CCDI) has stepped up its investigation into corruption, which has contributed to strongly preventing this problem.
Since the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in mid-October, the CCDI has opened investigations into more than 440 officials at the provincial level or above.
In 2016, about 57,000 Chinese government officials confessed to violations of CPC discipline. From 2014 to the end of October 2017, through the “Heavenly Net” campaign, China has brought back 3,453 corrupt fugitives from more than 90 countries and territories to face trial, recovering 9.5 billion yuan (equivalent to 1.44 billion USD)./.
